Listen to a transient sound.
In her piano compositions, she often relies on minor harmonies that tend to induce emotional response, often accompanied with flowing left hand patterns and strong melodic material in the right hand. She is inspired often by minimalist composers such as Philip Glass or Yann Tierson, with her music often making small shifts and minimal movements. Yet, other piano compositions can be a little more rhythmic and experimental, with very fast paced tempos and odd time changes; a reflection of her enthusiasm toward percussion, jazz and ragtime.
As she explores creating with software programs her sound takes on quite a different role. Bethany is passionate about using instruments and sounds that are not normally available, such as world instrumentation, synthesizers, and deep, edging bass sounds, as well as a high level of percussive reliance. She enjoys layering melodic material and building pieces in this manner, which again, may derive from an interest in minimalism and experimentation, as well as delving into the occasional electronic exploration.
